About

Kṣemarāja (early 11th century) was Abhinavagupta's principal disciple and a major systematizer of nondual Kashmir Śaivism. He wrote accessible commentaries and digests — notably on the Śivasūtras, Spanda, and Pratyabhijñā — that became standard gateways to the tradition. His shorter treatises, including the Bodhavilāsa, show a teacher concerned with making recognition (pratyabhijñā) and the play of awareness teachable beyond the great tantric summae of his master.
